Mindfulness is about bringing gentle awareness to the present moment, while meditation can take many forms, from focused attention to mantra or visualisation. Breathwork is different in that it is an active practice: you use specific breathing patterns to create shifts in the body and nervous system. This can bring deep relaxation, emotional release, and altered states of awareness that feel more immediate than traditional stillness practices.
My breathwork sessions are usually in person, as being close by allows me to guide and monitor your breathing more effectively. Touch and presence can also play an important role in creating safety and supporting the process. I am open to offering online sessions, but only once we have worked together in person for a few sessions. This helps me gain a deeper understanding of you which ensures that you will get the most out of your experience.
Breathwork is generally safe for most people, but high ventilation practices like Conscious Connected Breathing are not suitable for everyone. People with certain medical conditions such as severe heart or respiratory issues, uncontrolled high blood pressure, recent surgery, or serious mental health conditions should consult their doctor before participating. Conscious connected breathwork is also not offered to anyone under the age of 18 without parental consent and careful consideration of suitability. Other forms of breathwork are perfectly fine for children. Safety is always a priority, and sessions are adapted to meet individual needs.
During breathwork, it’s common to notice sensations such as tingling, vibrations, warmth, or gentle shaking. These can happen for several reasons: changes in breathing can shift oxygen and carbon dioxide levels, stimulate the nervous system, or slightly shift circulation due to oxygenation levels in the body. They can also be a sign of energy or tension being released, stored emotions processing, or the body moving through a mild altered state of consciousness. Everyone experiences these sensations differently, and they are generally a normal part of the breathwork process.
